About me

Doris Kandagor

Student Griffth UNIVERSITY, 2024

Doris is a dedicated advocate for sustainability with a commitment that is deeply rooted in the principles of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 12: Responsible Production and Consumption. The SGD underscores the necessity of ensuring sustainable consumption and production patterns, which she passionately strives to integrate into every facet of her life and work.

In 2020, Doris established an online blog (www.elegancebykemei.com) to advocate for conscious consumerism in a bid to uphold sustainability in the fashion industry. This activity is aligned with the UN’s SDG 12 as well. She aims to raise awareness about the hazardous impact of individual fashion consumption behaviors on the environment, economy, and people. Doris actively reduces her carbon footprint by embracing a zero-waste lifestyle and supporting eco-friendly products.

In 2022, she decided to expand her knowledge of development studies and pursued a Master of Global Development at Griffith University. This program aimed to advance her professional prospects, foster personal growth, and contribute to global development by supporting the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. While at Griffith, Doris gained professional experience through community internships partnering with SDGs. Navigating through a myriad of organizations to pursue her internship was challenging, but her passion for SDG 12 guided her decision. She ultimately chose to intern with OzHarvest as a Nutrition and Sustainability Ambassador. During her internship, Doris regularly engaged with communities, raising awareness about the importance of sustainable consumption in bid to minimize food waste.

The experience has fostered her enthusiasm for sustainability into initiatives that promote resource efficiency and waste reduction. She looks forward to successfully leading projects that implement circular economy principles, ensuring that resources are reused, recycled, and repurposed wherever possible.
